When we started this site in 2020, we knew what we wanted to do on the homestead, but we didn’t really know what we wanted to do in the larger world. Since then, our vision has evolved and we have started our own publishing company. Our own what, you say?! We started a publishing company for a very specific group of authors…ourselves.
That’s right, we have reformed Rocks & Roses Missouri as a publishing company that only publishes books that we ourselves have written. The idea was formed on a family vacation in Colorado when we really had the opportunity to brainstorm our long-term life plan. Now at our ages, a long-term life plan is a little late in coming, but we got married late, had children late, and I’m still not sure we’ve decided what we want to be when we grow up.
However, we have all these amazing interests and hobbies, three gifted children just brimming with ideas, and a vast (ok, it’s 25 acres) area of Missouri Forest to homestead on. One of my hobbies is writing, so that’s a pretty handy tool to have when you want to tell people all about your hobbies and turn your children’s ideas into stories that can help others.
So that’s what we’ve done…started a publishing company to tell the rest of the world all about our world. We plan to take you along on our journey, not only on the homestead, but on our road to self-discovery in the self-publishing world. Our first set of posts will include our process for picking book topics, narrowing our book(s) scope, and making non-fiction accessible for the average person.
As we share our stories about our stories, we hope we inspire you to keep being creative and sharing your thoughts with the world.
