Kate Ray

My name is Kate. I am happily married, a mother of three beautiful girls and an enthusiastic learner. While we all work our homestead together in some way, I am the primary brains and brawn of the operation; I promise I’m stronger than I look.

I moved with my family to this little patch of land in 2016, and quickly realized that we were in a little over our heads. My prior experience with urban gardening and pet dogs left me woefully unprepared to steward this land we had worked so hard to acquire.

Since that time, I have dug in deeply in an effort to fill the gaps in my agricultural knowledge. We currently have a small herd of Dexter cattle, a mixed flock of dual-purpose chickens, and more projects in the works than we can count. Not only do I love learning about agriculture – and specifically – about permaculture concepts – but I also love writing about it.
